Wishing you all the best for 2021!
Being the youngest of eight children in a large Midwest family Sue is used to “blending” in with the crowd. And yet, she sees the individuality and hidden nuances in everyone and everything and interprets them in her artwork. Sue takes that “blended” object and brings it into focus for you, to see all the hidden beauty that is shining from within.
Having worked with many animals of different shapes and sizes during her veterinary career, left her with a special connection with animals. She feels that experience enables her to give a personality to each art piece by learning to connect without words.
Currently living in Gilbert, Arizona with her husband, this artist has decided to take her art to the next level so she can help others to stop for a moment to see the magnificence in the details.
Medium: Painting, Drawing
Style: Animals • Landscapes • Portraits
The moment I see a drawing come to life is what it is all about for me! For in that instant I feel a bond with each and every unique subject. No matter if it is human, animal, or even an object suddenly with many, many layers of colors there is that magical time when I feel my new “friend” has arrived. Maybe it is when I draw a sparkle in an eye or even as simple as a first outline there is without question a personality that forms and deepens even further with each detail as I continue to pursue my work.
Using either watercolors, colored pencils or both together is how I am able to capture the precise elements through my work. I believe giving a personality and somehow humanizing each subject by capturing those tiniest details which are normally overlooked is what draws you in. From there, you the viewer, become the one to finish the story with your new “friend” in the artwork.
