GARY VULCANO

"I don't think outside of the box; I think of what I  can do with the box."

For the past forty-five years, I have worked in the advertising business, creating campaigns for many different industries. As a visual communicator, I straddle the two worlds of advertising and fine art in my metal sculptures and digital creations.

gary vulcano

Gary Vulcano is an artist working in metal sculpture, mixed media artworks, and digital creations. Originally from Chicago, Gary was a Creative Director in the advertising industry. Upon moving to Arizona over thirty years ago, he continued his career in advertising and built a reputation for his highly creative and effective marketing solutions which delivered significant results for companies around the country.

Gary began working in metal sculpture five years ago. During that time, this prolific artist has created hundreds of works. Gary’s art is always original, and an ongoing theme throughout his extensive body of work is the story-telling aspect of his artworks, which always evoke a response from the viewer. As a full-time artist, and visual communicator he enjoys the broad range of subjects and styles he creates. He has an uncanny ability to quickly envision an artwork in three dimensions, and can spontaneously mold metal into a sculpture. This unusual versatility of skills enables him to create art in different visual languages, whether metal sculpture or his newest endeavor into the realm of digital imagery. As a forward-thinking and highly innovative artist, Gary is always interested in what’s next.

Gary’s generous spirit and ability to innovate extend beyond the creation of his art. When he became a full-time artist, he recognized the need to share his work. Through the artist's "Mighty Metal" program, Gary donates original artwork to qualified children's nonprofit and charity organizations across the country. His philosophy is, "Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference!" He brings that philosophy to life through this program.

This dynamic artist regularly exhibits his work across Arizona. His art has been included in exhibits at, Art Intersection, Desert Foothills Gallery, FOUND:RE Contemporary, Herberger Art Galleries, Portland In The Park, Shemer Art Center, Larsen Gallery and the Sonoran Arts League gallery. An active member of several art groups and guilds, Gary has exhibited with Artists in Arizona, Gilbert Visual Art League, Ground Floor Artists, Tempe Artist Guild, and the Sonoran Arts League. Most recently, in 2023, Gary was the Guest Curator for a group exhibit at the Herberger Theater Center entitled, “Listen To Your Inner Creative Voice.” In January, 2024 he opened a solo exhibit titled, “expressiveVISIONS” at the Herberger Theater Center to great acclaim. In June of 2025 his work will be featured in a group exhibit at Vision Gallery in Chandler AZ.
