“I am an artist who studies from the masters, endlessly critiques her own work, and searches for answers through my art.”
Nancy Finnegan is a natural born artist, showing a keen interest and ability since childhood. She attended the University of Illinois and later transferred to the American Academy of Art in Chicago, graduating in 1988.
Medium: Drawing
Style: Representational
The artist primarily creates representational art, from figures to still life. She focuses on drawing, as she understands this skill is paramount to creating great art. The majority of her works are expressive charcoal drawings, although she is equally talented in creating oil paintings and watercolors.
As a student of the masters, whether through books or museum visits, continuous study and learning remain the cornerstone of her progress as an artist. Some of the most important artists that have influenced her work are Michelangelo Caravaggio, Winslow Homer, and John Singer Sargent, to name but a few.
After a break of many years to care for her wonderful family, she has recently commenced her art career. The artist already has over 1,000 followers on Instagram, and her work was selected for inclusion in both the 2019 and 2020 “Best and Brightest” exhibit at Scottsdale Artists School.
Nancy enthusiastically looks forward to developing her art using the time-honored traditions of study and practice.
