"My digital paintings are born from imagination, not automation."
Theresa Poalucci is a self-taught artist based in Tucson, Arizona, known for her vibrant, expressive work rooted in the colors and stories of the Southwest. Her journey as a painter began in childhood, guided by the creative influence of her mother, and has evolved into a dynamic second career after decades in journalism, publishing, and arts coverage.
Medium: Digital art, Painting, Alcohol Inks
Style: Landscape, Nature, Wildlife

Now a full-time professional artist, Poalucci creates with an urgency and passion that re ects her deep connection to the creative process. She works primarily in acrylic, alcohol ink, and digital painting, with a palette rich in warm, saturated tones. Her subject matter ranges from desert landscapes and wildlife to symbolic compositions and whimsical narratives. Many of her contemporary works begin with a clear vision, but evolve as she paints—guided by intuition and emotion, often accompanied by American standards or Broadway show tunes that inspire the rhythm of her brushwork. “Don’t ask me why I paint—I have to paint,” she says. “There are so many ideas in my head, I just hope I have enough time to get them all onto the canvas.”
Poalucci’s work has been shown in four Arizona galleries—K.Newby Gallery (Tubac), Desert Artisans Gallery (Tucson), Southern Arizona Arts Guild Gallery (Tucson), and Absolutely Art Gallery (Catalina).
