Michelle Mallett is an artist who interprets the majestic landscapes of the southwest from her home base of Tucson, AZ.
A native of Colorado, Michelle comes from an artistic family and is a fourth generation artist. As a young girl, she watched her Great Grandmother, Grandmother, and Father paint, often asking them for canvas, paint and brushes so that she could imitate their work. This artistic heritage provides the foundation for the artist to create her colorful landscape paintings, and fuels her impulse to create.
Style: Landscape • Realism
At an early age, Michelle developed a deep love for scenic surroundings during frequent outings with her family to the mountains, lakes and rivers in Colorado, Utah and Arizona. Those early impressions left an imprint on her creative endeavors, revealed today in the dramatic and breathtaking canvases she paints.
After attending college on a golf scholarship and receiving her degree in Interior Design, she opened an interior design firm in Northern Arizona, specializing in kitchen and bath design. Due to the success of her company, she had the opportunity to sell her business, and she, and her family, decided to move to Tucson, AZ. With that move, a vital new chapter for Michelle’s artistic career was realized, and she now dedicates her time to her true passion of creating art full time.
This dynamic artist remains dedicated to expanding her knowledge of art and to continuously learning new skills. Primarily a self taught artist, she regularly attends art workshops to perfect her technique. She is a member of The Tubac Center for the Arts and her work has been juried into several statewide shows.
Her desire to communicate with the public, and share the beauty of the magnificent places she has visited throughout her life, inspires Michelle to create and share her art. She especially enjoys painting the views from Lake Powell, scenes from the surrounding area of the Colorado Plateau, as well as the panoramic diversity of the National Parks across the Southwest. These vistas and landscapes speak to her, and she is inspired to paint the soul of the southwest.
