CARL KUBITZ

In 1968 with a second hand, no-name 35mm camera, two rolls of film, and the local Rexall drug store to process my film, I started taking pictures. In 1976 while in Sweden, for three weeks and little to do after work hours, I found myself in a camera shop. I left the shop with a new Olympus OM-1, a single lens, and a half dozen rolls of film. Little did I know that would be the start of a lifelong passion. Over the years, the equipment has changed, but the basics are still there. I travel with a camera to capture images of life, light, and landscape.

A memorable event occurred in 2017 when I witnessed my first total solar eclipse. I am looking forward to the next eclipse. In 2018 I added Infrared and H-Alpha camera to expand the possibilities of capturing new images in a different light. In February of 2019, I traveled to Antarctica to complete the continental list and see firsthand the wildlife and environment of our southernmost continent.

I enjoy finding unique places, capturing what I see with my camera, then sharing with others. Light, both natural and artificial, blend with objects to create beautiful and amazing images. My camera allows me to capture and share what I see. Every day I see the beauty nature provides and always ready to capture the special moment.

My New Year’s resolution on January 1st, 2020, was to begin publishing images that have been captured over the past 52 years so others may enjoy what I have been fortunate to see.
