UNLEASHED - A CELEBRATION OF ART AND CREATIVITY
WELCOME TO OUR JURIED SHOW!
Thank you to all the artists who entered! We have been delighted by the number and quality of entries. Out of over 48 entries we have selected the very best pieces for this exciting show!
CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR SELECTED FINALISTS!
Thank you for sending in your remarkable works. It was an honor to read your statements and bios, and to view your artwork. We could feel the energy and appreciated the unique style of each artist. The diversity we found makes for an even more interesting show. Thank you to all of you for making this a memorable and exciting exhibit! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OUR TALENTED ARTISTS!
For this exhibit, we asked artists to submit entries that reflected the theme, “Unleashed.” What we discovered is that some artists feel unleashed when creating a specific artwork, and others felt unleashed every time they were making their art.
As art lovers and appreciators, it’s a thrill when an artist taps into their core and creates art that makes us think, and helps us understand their intention. What a privilege it is to view their art as the meaning of a piece slowly unveils itself.
Our exhibits always showcase a highly diverse range of artworks and styles. This show is no different and you will find glass art, photography, paintings, pastels, mixed media, sculpture and more. The works run the gamut from pure abstractions, figurative abstractions, landscapes, portraits and pop art.
This impressive exhibit showcases the tremendous talents of Arizona artists, including members and non-members.
If you've visited our exhibit before you will know that all our Selected Finalist artists are winners! And there are reasons for that. We strongly believe that it is not possible to compare different genres and mediums to each other. Each artwork is different and unique, and should be viewed individually, and not by comparison. At Artists in Arizona we celebrate that difference and the diversity that thrives in the realm of art.
Our exhibit format also provides the viewer with an opportunity to learn more about the intentions of the artists through their written artist statements. These statements provide even more insight into the motivations of the artist. We encourage you to read them so you may learn more about the art and artist.
Congratulations to all our Selected Finalists! We celebrate your time and talent and are honored that you shared your work with Artists in Arizona. You absolutely make our lives better by sharing your art with all of us! Thank you Artists in Arizona!
Now, it's your turn! We invite you to sit back and enjoy the show. We have chosen to exhibit the artworks in a "slow-art" slideshow format. You may select the thumbnail images to move forward at your own pace. If you are interested to acquire a piece, please be in touch with the artist to check the status of the artwork. If you need assistance, please email us at info@artistsinarizona.com.

These paintings each feature an original creative character from Bullet's 'Creative Genius' series. These characters epitomize the frustrations and joys of being an artist. Their emotions are born out of Bullet's personal experiences of being a lifetime artist. Bullet created these acrylic paintings from his original drawings and added a bold, colorful background with a text message using lettering he also designed. These paintings feature 'Sparky', 'Alien Babe' and 'Pierre the Artiste'. The acrylic paintings measures 30” x 40” and are painted on archival canvas or Sintra board. Images are all protected by a federal copyright: © Bullet Communications LLC.

Exploring clay as a canvas has been a facet of my work.
Also learning the engineering of creating a whistle, my VW, has been a challenge.
"Craft," or "Art," is a boundary I relish to extinguish. "Clay as Art" is my goal & inspiration.
I am an avid landscape/wildlife photographer who wants to share the beauty of the world with those who cannot see it. Photographing the Bison had its challenges, in that there was a split second to capture the image. I hope you can enjoy these beautiful and stunning images as much as I have in producing them.
In 2025, I pushed myself both technically and artistically. My pieces are on a larger scale than I have done before. I feel very enriched working on a larger "canvas". My creativity can explode!
My work focuses on the architecture of the unconscious and subconscious mind. Exploring different techniques such as long gestural strokes juxtaposed with bold mark-making helps me to create a disoriented mindscape.
Dirt Truss Under this truss of dirt And mud Aged and decayed Old rafters, weak struts I strain to keep the roof from crumbling But I’m taking in the dust And already living in the ruins of a house I built for a younger moon.
The art I paint embodies the essence of the Southwest. Color, light, shadow, adroit composition, and depiction of different surface textures are used to create unique oil paintings. I strive to provide the viewer a powerful experience through each painting by creating a lasting inspiration, sense of wonder and exploration of what the American Southwest once was and is today. "Solitude" I wanted to get a feeling of being alone and the emotions it can create in people, negative and positive. " Owl Odyssey" My goal was to show the beauty of nature as well as the effect of light and shadow. "Vestiges of a Miner's Haven" I loved the beauty in the history and aging over time.
In my new collection of landscape paintings, color serves as the vital force that brings each scene to life. I carefully select hues and contrasts to create a sense of depth and movement, inviting viewers to feel as if they are stepping into the landscapes themselves. Each brushstroke is designed to evoke the warmth of sunlight, the coolness of a breeze, and the tranquility of nature, transforming the viewing experience into a journey of exploration and connection. I invite you to walk into these painted worlds and immerse yourself in the beauty and emotion they embody.
I've been painting sunrise, sunset, and fall paintings lately and wanted to produce an evening/nighttime scene. Blues fill the painting with sense of night chill while oranges and yellows warm up the hillside depicting twinkling lights from homes on the hill. Moonlight reflects off of trees and grass below.
Multiple layers intertwine and overlap, revealing depth and complexity—unleashed creativity unfolding in dynamic dimensions.
Amy Newton-McConnel is an art photographer in Phoenix, Arizona. She utilizes In Camera Movement (ICM) photography.
For Julie Noles, every animal portrait is a celebration of the profound bond between creatures and the people who love them. A self-taught oil painter passionate about her craft, she believes that art has the power to honor and preserve the connections between humans and animals.
In all of the pieces I am entered, I not only used photos for backgrounds, but either drew and painted the animals that I added to the scene or improved them by painting with pixels after I had added them to the scene.
My work combines the desert lifestyle with a fascination for the future, especially the evolving technological world. I blend nature’s wonder with digital tools, “painting with pixels” to capture and enhance my vision.

As I explore my new love of abstract work, I'm struck by how much more fun and excitement and curiosity I'm experiencing in the studio now. My new approach: What if I did that? My new pledge: Create with curiosity.
My artistic ideas, style, and technique are constantly evolving, shaped by a sense of place, time and how I experience life's changes. This new work has transitioned into a more textural application, using abstract expressionism as the foundation underlying recognizable and personal markings and images.
"I aim to spark thought, stir emotion, and have fun doing it!"
I look to create artwork that is completely unleashed and not bound by any convention.
I am constantly creating, and when I'm not creating the final artwork, I am sketching feverishly to quickly capture my ideas down on paper. I feel fortunate to have the ability to create art. All my energy goes into it's creation and I feel compelled to unleash all my creativity.
My sculptures, paintings, assemblages and digital creations dazzle audiences with a sense of fun and quirkiness, or at times with a dramatic, thought-provoking statement. I love to surprise the viewer, and enjoy their reaction to the works which usually involve a smile or even a laugh!
I’m submitting some of my most colorful artworks for the “Unleashed” exhibition. I feel very unleashed when I use a myriad of colors in combination with exciting elements of nature.
Renaissance: In this piece, I explore the intricate dance between architecture and abstraction, weaving together textures, light, patterns, and geometry to create a visual narrative that resonates on multiple levels.
Luhrs Lobby: The symmetry and art deco design of the lobby of the Luhrs Tower is a nostalgic reminder of the architecture of a bygone era. I was intrigued with the warmth of the light in the space. The arches in the doorways and over the elevator contrasted with the brass on the elevator marble floors and the metal touches were a feast for the eyes and lend a touch of elegance to the space.
Abstract artists are brave. It takes courage to let go of a known image. To step into the unknown. Abstract art is improvisation, using rules of composition to step away from reality. I believe the best abstract art combines the elements of both time and space. What does time mean to me as an artist? For me, abstraction should combine both the ephemeral and the enduring. It must display both a fleeting moment, and an image that remains – that cannot be shaken from one’s mind. And as an artist, I believe one must take chances with space. One of my favorite quotes is from the philosopher Walter Benjamin, who said, “Strength lies in improvisation. All the decisive blows are struck left-handed.” My art conveys a sense of power, of strength, and of the unexpected. I want to make the strongest image I possibly can within two dimensions. I want the viewer to stop and look. And look again. Abstract art should enter an imaginary realm, where neither traditional time nor space exist. Bravery in abstract art requires the choice of the never told. What I try to bring to my paintings is a sense of magic. I don’t paint what I see, I paint what I wonder
