"My personal Indian Ledger Art is about people caring for one another to preserve both the dignity of the individual as well as the integrity of the culture."
I was born in Fort Huachuca, Arizona and grew up in Tucson, Arizona. I was raised in the ways of the traditional United Keetoowah Band, Oklahoma Cherokees. As a Cherokee I have a heartfelt need to illustrate those things that are important to the Cherokee women in our roles as historical recorders and leaders. I typically create my art from scenes based on specific events or a memory of a story told to me by my elders. My personal Indian Ledger Art is about people caring for one another to preserve both the dignity of the individual as well as the integrity of the culture. It's about making personal sacrifice, as warriors do to protect their tribe. It's about survival, not ideology or pipelines.
