Linda Enger is a photographic and mixed media artist. Born 1955 in St Louis, Mo. After earning a BFA in Photography in 1978 from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale Illinois, she figured she did not want to stay in academia so instead she jumped into the world of professional commercial photography. She has worked with numerous clients nationally and internationally. At times the line was thin between her personal art and her professional work. Presently she is focusing most of her photographic energy on her “Cross Pollination” series, where her ruminations and insights on life are expressed through her conceptual still life studio images that utilize her paintings and mixed media, her never ending learning curve in her gardening exploits, her desire to repurpose stuff, while expressing her thoughts visually.
MEDIUM: Photography
STYLE: Conceptual Still life photography • Nature photography, Abstract painting and mixed media.
Focusing on color studies and nature, recycled man-made and nature/environment
There are many stages to her work pre and post shoot and throughout the entire process there is a great deal of time alone to think about her external and internal world. Although she has a great deal of experience in shooting a reportage style of photography the project that she has been embedding herself in for many years is all based around studio still life, and extensive digital retouching. The intention is always that a viewer is drawn into her imagery and evokes an interest by the audience to wonder about the backstory to her images.
